Making Progress

I can’t think of a single thing that has gone as expected, but we are making progress! Be. PILATES & FITNESS will be ready to open its doors soon!

The signs are up. The reformers are in place. The floors have been sanded and are nearly ready to be stained and sealed.

The studio is at the southwest corner of State Street and Arney Lane.

We have 8 reformers in the main studio.

I hope this is a place you feel welcomed and comfortable, supported and empowered.

Learning to "Be."

I thought this was going to go differently. I was supposed to create a beautiful new studio where everything was perfectly in place and then invite you in. You know - all the polish and shine and none of the mess.

I was foolish, and I am sorry. I believe in authentic. I value vulnerability. Not only did I have unrealistic expectations, but I have also been going about this all wrong.

I love Brene’ Brown and preach her wisdom, but knowing it and sharing it isn’t nearly as important — or as scary — as living it. Theodore Roosevelt made stepping into the arena sound so valiant. My face is marred, quite literally, with dust and sweat and tears these days. The uncertainty, risk and emotional exposure feels uncomfortable — and lonely.

I’ve created that feeling by not embracing the discomfort that is unfinished floors, too-fancy-for-me wall sconces, mirror-less walls, and mats that don’t match the color scheme. I feel silly typing that out loud, because I know you aren’t that fickle. I know you appreciate the very same things I do — the power of Pilates and the connection you share with each other.

This is not my journey to take alone. You are my tribe. Rather than tuck away and continue to go it alone behind closed doors in an empty studio, I’m inviting you to join me on this journey.

The road will be a bit bumpy, but we will take it one day at a time. The scheduling software, app and website are being created. The machines are being refurbished. Brand new springs are being manufactured. Mirrors will go up. Floors will be finished. Lights will be updated. New bands and weights will replace old. It will be exciting to celebrate the milestones — big and small — together.

Thank you for your calls, emails and texts. I am humbled by your support and will forever be grateful for your patience and grace. Thank you for helping me learn to “Be.”

Demo Day

HGTV sure does make “Demo Day” looks like a lot of fun. The carpet was the first to go. We cut, ripped and hauled the heavy floor covering out of the way to reveal (less than beautiful) bare concrete floors.

Our demolition work came to an abrupt halt when Jaxon put the box cutter into her hand. She is her mother’s daughter and has as special knack for clumsy.

A trip to St. Luke’s Urgent Care and three stitches later, she is almost as good as new!

The Be. Brand

A brand is far more than a logo or catchy marketing campaign. A brand is the unique attribute that sets you apart. It’s your promise.

Be. PILATES & FITNESS is a place where you can be. A place where you are enough. We will honor where you are while inspiring you to bravely push toward where you want to be.

Here you will be strong, be moved, be centered, be empowered & be transformed.

I designed this logo to represent the balance of grit and grace in each of us: the peace that comes from embracing our authentic self and the powerful transformation possible when we courageously choose to change and grow.

I will use the “Be.” as a gentle reminder - a little reminder to appreciate the extraordinary moment that is here and now.

The double triangle is a glyph meaning “transform”. As an INFJ (and someone who can work my appreciation of the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator into any conversation), I see potential in just about everything and everyone and am driven to help people create their best self. I believe Pilates will benefit every body and mind. It has the power to transform you.

Practicing My Patience

I want to stay close to our base: Northwest Boise, Garden City, Eagle. I want a space that feels comfortable and welcoming. It needs to be big enough to fit the reformers, have enough parking, and be affordable, too. That doesn’t seem like an unreasonable wish list, but finding a commercial location that checks all those boxes is proving to be quite a challenge!

I am not good at patient. It’s difficult to wait for a realtor’s return call; difficult to hear a property with potential has already been rented; difficult to admit my optimism may have overshadowed reality.

Hours of searching, touring, measuring, calculating and configuring prove none of the dozens of spaces available right now will work. So I will wait. Impatiently.
